Contreiras Twins - Q Models newest double threat

Andreia Contreiras

Alice Contreiras

10 questions for Andreia and Alice Contreiras

Double the beauty and personality, Andreia and Alice Contreiras are twin models that are on the same high speed road to success in the industry. Andrea who is 3 minutes older than her sister started her career first in Portugal, where they were born and raised. She entered the Elite Model Look Contest in 2003 and won a contract with Elite Model Management. In that same year, Alice attended a contest for Pantene and won a contract with Central models. Soon after, Andrea signed with the label as well. The Twins moved to New York about 4 weeks ago and are signed with Q models. We wanted to get to know them a little better so we asked them a series of random (but fun!) questions:

1: What is the worst shoot you’ve ever had?

Andreia: “I’m afraid of heights, and once I had to stand on a ledge in high heels…I was really afraid!”

Alice: “I had one in Portugal, in the snow and in a bikini. It was terrible.”

2: If you weren’t modeling what career would you want to pursue?

Andreia: “I always wanted to be a hairdresser.”

Alice: “I always wanted to be an actress.”

3: What are three things you can’t live without?

Alice: “Family, Food, Friends.”

Andreia: “Same!” [both laugh]

4: What is the number one thing that you want for Christmas?

Andreia: “An iphone.”

Alice: “A boyfriend.”

5: Favorite designer?

Andreia & Alice: “Balmain”

{We’re going to have to agree here…Spring 2010 collection...brilliant}

6: Describe your personal style.

Andreia: “We have the same style. Comfy clothes, not many colors or patterns.”

7: If you could change one thing about the modeling industry what would it be?

Andreia: “The superficial people.”

Alice: “The fact that you have to be really skinny.”

8: What is your all time favorite movie?

Andreia: “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

Alice: “Pulp Fiction.”

9: What is the last beautiful place you’ve been?

Andreia: “Bali.”

Alice: “Dubai. It’s not as big as you think but it’s really nice.”

10: What do you love most about New York City?

Andreia: “The Craziness.”

Alice: “The mix of cultures.”

Nadine McAdam shares her thoughts with us...

I am from Toronto Canada.. in Hong Kong at the moment with Dani Thompson with Model One... yes modeling...

Why do I love blogging? - well I have always been creative, and in the last couple years I have realized that one of my best forms of self expression is writing. I find that sometimes the best way to put my own thoughts in order and to make the best conclusions is to write out what I am feeling or going through. I also want to write a book in a couple years about all that I have experienced in this world of modeling and traveling. The good, the bad, the beautiful and sometimes even the ugly. But I guess also to show that modeling isn't what people necessarily think. It's not the glamorous life that people want to believe - nor is it always easy. And yes, I am sure here is where you insert 'poor little model'. And I guess I also want to show that there are quite a few of us that indeed do have a brain... and I plan on using mine.

Photography has also become a growing passion of mine.. I think it's another form of self expression, but also a way that I can share a little bit of what I am seeing and experiencing with those I love at home, or just those who are interested. Modeling and traveling can be a lonely world at times and sometimes the best salvation is exercising your own self expression... I guess keeping yourself stimulated, since there are so many times that you find yourself surrounded by people who don't speak English or even if they do, don't try to speak to you.

I use to keep a diary, and there are still things, of course, that I write for myself only, but for the most part I like sharing my insights and what is going on with me. I like that I get messages from people about what I have written and how they can relate to it. The pictures kinda just came secondary since I like visually and aesthetically pleasing things, so I wanted my blog to be visually appealing as well. If nothing else, it will be a way I can remember some of the wonderful, joyous things that this life has given me... as well as some of the more heart wrenching moments or harder lessons I have had to learn along the way.

To spend or not to spend?

We all know modeling can be quite a profitable business, but the problem here is how can we study the spending habits of the models? What would you think models spend it on? Shoes? Hand Bags? Traveling? Well most models do, but then there are other ones that take another direction with their careers and their financial planning, like our good friend Courtney Erickson with Q Models, she is an inspiration to us and other models.

She has been modeling for quite sometime now, mostly booking editorials, hair campaigns, book covers and other print work, which we all know its quite profitable when you are actually booking this jobs like this girl does.

Well after some years of hard work, and being wise with her spending, keeping herself from too much partying and avoiding been in the negative side of the industry, Courtney is now achieving her dream, to buy her own HOUSE back home in Louisiana, this girl at the age of 20 is financially stable to buy her own house, this is something we all should aim for. We congratulate you Courtney for your hard work, and being a great example to all of us.

We should also ask Jeff down at Q Models if he is teaching his models to be more responsible than other agency models. Jeff we salute you for a great job!
